March Meeting

It is already March 31st! ?It seems like March went by really fast, and now we are approaching April already. There are a lot of local festivals (beer events) in April just begging for your attendance. First off is the Bistro IPA festival in Hayward on April 5th, soon followed by the Bay Area Craft Beer Festival in Martinez on April 12th ?http://www.bayareacraftbeerfestival.com/ ? ? Remember, you can pour your homebrew at this festival and get entry to the fest for your efforts.

February 2014 Meeting

Tonight’s meeting will feature a water talk from Colin Mead. A gadget from Jon and the inaugural BOTM (beer of the month). Meeting starts at 6:30 pm. Be there!!

What you missed at the January 27 Meeting

Here is what happened at the January 27 meeting. We welcomed several new members to the club, a couple of which were referred to us by More Beer. We were reminded that the 2014 membership dues are due. Scott Thomas gave us an update on the new home brew law and how it affects us. More analysis to follow. Craig brought in some samples of our DOZE project barrel aged beers.

Welcolme to 2014

DOZE Member and future members, Welcome to 2014! Our first meeting is next week on the 27th of January, 6:30 pm at the Lindsay Wildlife Museum. We will have a presentation from DOZE member, Mike Smith, who recently traveled to Belgium with his son. I presume he will give us the highlights as well as travel tips for those of you who want to travel to the beer mecca of Europe.

Ancient Egyptian beer brewer’s tomb found in Luxor

ARCHAEOLOGISTS have unearthed the tomb of an ancient beer brewer in the city of Luxor in Egypt that is more than 3,000 years old. Egypt’s minister of antiquities Mohammed Ibrahim said the tomb was discovered by Japanese archaeologists and belonged to Khonso Em Heb. The tomb of Khonso Em Heb., who lived 3,200 years ago, was “one of the most important discoveries made in the city of Luxor … at the Thebes necropolis”, he said.

Heretic Brewing Tour

Here are the details of our October 19 Heretic Brewing tour. Leave Concord area on 47 passenger bus at 9:00 am (outside of North Concord/Martinez Bart station.) Arrive Anheuser Busch Fairfield at 9:45 and tour their brewery for 1 hour, beer samples will be served. Arrive Heretic Brewing Co. at about 11:15 Jamil will have tours, beers on tap, and Crossroad Burger food truck out front for your lunch purchase (or bring your own lunch)
