Brew Collaboration with Sierra Nevada (Limited spots, RAFFLE!)

DOZE’rs, At our January meeting I mentioned an upcoming collaboration we have planned with Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. We just pinned down the dates for the brew sessions so I wanted to get the information out to everyone before our meeting tonight. The details of the event are as follows. We will be brewing two batches of beer with SNBC’s R&D team on their Morebeer 20Gal Pilot system. The focus of this experiment will be on water treatment.

February 2017 Meeting

I hope everyone has been enjoying February and is recovering from all the SF Beer Week events. Speaking of events our meeting next week will be very eventful. We will be finalizing our Constitution and have Colin Kaminski as our speaker. Colin is a Master Brewer and one of the authors of the book “Water: A Comprehensive Guide for Brewers”. He also worked as the product designer at Beer, Beer and More Beer, designing more than 180 products including the Peltier cooled conical fermentor.

DOZE at The Napa Homebrewers Classic

The results of the Napa Homebrewers Classic were posted yesterday and DOZE had a very strong presence in the winners circle. Congratulations to Eric Ruff and Vito Delucchi who won Blue Ribbons and are eligible for the Best of Show award at the BrewFest in Napa on March 4th. Also Ray Graves and Brett Higham both received multiple awards having each won a Second and Third place ribbon. Pavel Anisimov and Luis Castro both received a second place and Robbie Proctor a third place award.

Beer Judging 101: Introduction to Beer Styles & Judging – SF Beer Week 2017

Beer Judging 101: Beer Tasting and Judging class, with Grand Master Beer Judge David Teckam. Prerequisites: None. This class is intended mainly for non-judges who have some amount of casual tasting experience, and an interest in craft beer and world beer styles. Section 1: Noon, Sunday, Feb. 19, 2016 Section 2: 2:30PM, Sunday, Feb 19, 2016 Instructor: David Teckam, BJCP Grand Master V ranked Beer Judge and beer educator, assisted by Master level BCJP judge and homebrew competition organizer, Brian Cooper.

DOZE Homebrewer of the Year 2017

We will once again hold the DOZE Homebrewer of the Year competition for 2017. The purpose of the HOY is to recognize DOZE members competing in competitions and provide an award for the club member that best represents DOZE in competitions over the year. Check here throughout the year for the HOY Standings. DOZE members score points towards HOY by competing in BJCP competitions under the DOZE homebrew club. One point is awarded just for entering a competition and more points are awarded based placing in the top three with a bonus for winning best in show.
