Happy new year DOZERs. Hoping you had a wonderful year of brewing. Now is a great time to give your brewhouse a once over for chores and maintenance often overlooked (at least they can be for me). Here’s a short list that clearly is not comprehensive, feel free to add your suggestions in comments.
-
Replace your carbon filter cartidge
Calibrate thermometers
Calibrate scales
Clean and check grain mill gap settings
Run a Starsan “cleaning mode” brew
Remove, disassemble, and clean ball valves
Check all electrical connections (pumps, controllers, etc)
Acid clean immersion chiller
Inspect and replace plastic buckets and lids
Inspect glass carboys for hairline cracks or chips
Check all flexible tubing
Clean keg lines, replace old beverage tubing

This is good, thanks Erik! Maybe make it a spreadsheet that people can print out and check off as they go through maintenance. I might hang the list in my brewery and write down the dates for each of the maintenance items of when they were last completed if I don’t do them all annually at the same time.
Suggestions to add:
Replace sanitary filters (siphon, O2 aeration)
Boil aeration/carbonation stones
