The August meeting was held Monday the 29th at the EJ Phair Alehouse. Club vice president Curtis Pehl presided, as Doctor Scott had a death in his family and was unable to attend. The club’s condolences go out to Doctor Scott and his family.

Everybody enjoys
club meetings at EJ Phair.

There were a couple
of new faces at this meeting. Jeff and Mike. Welcome to the club! If you
have questions about membership, Aaron T. Porter is our Membership Chairman.
He can be reached at atporter@primate.net.

fit right in at their first DOZE meeting.

The Style Talk was
given by Reagan Dillon and the subject
was mead. Reagan gave a short lecture and then poured some of his own
examples of the style. Next month’s Style Talk will be on pilseners and
will be presented by Chris Graham.

Gadget Time featured
two items, one rather unusual and the other very practical. The first
was Vince Garcia’s milk can fermentor.
Vince has modified a stainless steel milk can to accept an airlock and
seal it’s lid securely. At presstime, Vince had yet to try his creation
but will report on it’s performance as soon as he does.

Item two was a heavy
duty stand for a 5# CO2 bottle, built by Erik
Beer
. Erik attaches his bottle to the stand by means of a large hose
clamp.

For the New Stuff
at B3
portion of the meeting , Jason Petros talked
about several new kits at the store, one being a saison and the other
being a 10th Anniversary stout kit. B3 also plans to introduce a line
of "Club Series" kits. These would be a signature kit representing
a particular club (like ours!) and a portion of each sale would go back
to that club. Sounds like a great idea. This writer thinks there are several
DOZE brewers who could provide worthy recipes.

B3 will also soon
be stocking a new plate type wort chiller. Similar to The Therminator,
it will retail for less than $100.
